Mission Statement

A ministry of the University Church of Christ, the University Church Preschool is a coeducational Christian school which serves children ages six weeks through five years.  It is the mission of the preschool program to provide a planned environment and developmentally appropriate program for the care, education, and nurturing of young children facilitating their total development: mental, physical, spiritual, and social.  As a Christian school, we strive to fill each child’s spiritual needs through the daily teaching of God’s truth utilizing Bible stories, spiritual songs, and spiritual conversations.  Through the living example and care provided by our staff, children will experience God’s love and see Christian values portrayed daily.

Enrollment

Enrollment is open to any child, six weeks to five years old.  A $50 annual registration fee per family is payable upon enrollment for the fall and spring semesters.  A $25 summer registration fee also applies to each child attending the summer enrichment program.  All registration fees are non-refundable.

Tuition

Tuition is due on the first and late on the tenth of each month.  Monthly tuition remains the same with no deductions made for absences, vacation days, or city school holidays. Please see the registration form for tuition rates.  A sibling discount of $30 is offered to every child after the first.  A non refundable wait list fee of $20 is required to hold a child’s name on a class waiting list.  This amount applies to the registration fee upon enrollment.

Schedules

University Church Preschool follows the Tuscaloosa City Schools calendar for holiday closings with the exception of being open for teacher in-service days and a summer program.  The hours of operation are from 7:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  The Infant and Young Toddler classrooms only offer full time care.  The Older Toddler, Three, Pre-K I, and Pre-K II classrooms offer a variety of part-time options.

Curriculum

Children are provided with opportunities to grow and develop in each of the following domains:  mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual.  Classes focus on monthly thematic units with each teacher introducing concepts in ways that are developmentally appropriate for each child.  Copies of the curriculum are available upon request.
   • Language, math, computer, pre-reading, pre-writing, and social skills are emphasized.
   • Bible stories, songs, and memory verses are all integral aspects of each child’s learning experience.

Lunches and Snacks

Children should bring nutritional foods for lunch in easy open containers.  You may send juice or an optional milk service is provided at an additional cost.  Snacks and juice are provided each day.

Inclement Weather

University Church Preschool follows the Tuscaloosa City Schools weather policy for closings.  Listen to TV or radio stations for information.

Staff

Each teacher and director participates in teacher in-service training, monthly staff meetings, professional development workshops, and annual infant/child CPR certification.  University Church Preschool also collaborates with students in the child development program at the University of Alabama.  Giving future early childhood educators hands-on experience in the classroom also enables our children to benefit from the most current educational methods and concepts.

Scholarships

University Church Preschool offers a limited number of scholarships to families who qualify.  Scholarships are awarded on a semester basis.  Candidates and recipients must reapply each semester.

Non-Discrimination Policy

The University Church Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
