Jail and Prison Ministry

Our Mission
First, we as a body must gain a better understanding of incarcerated individual's needs.
Jail and prison are two very different places. The individuals in those places largely
have different needs. When a person is incarcerated he/she is not the only one serving time.
Family members are punished along with the offender. There are immediate physical
needs and long-term and eternal needs we can address.

Statement of Purpose
*To live out Jesus' command in Matthew 25 to serve the "least of these."
*To remember the freedom we have in Christ and to share the joy and
liberation gained through that freedom.
*To serve the needs of the incarcerated, their families, and prison and jail staff.

Goals
*Recruit as many as five committed participants to form a core planning group.
*Pray for direction and resources to serve.
*Brainstorm and plan how we will connect with existing groups to
provide services, particularly to the jail.
*Provide services to God's glory in the Spirit of Unity

Requirements
*Prison ministry requires more than a casual commitment.
Consistency is of utmost importance.
*A constant attitude of service is required when visiting any facility.
*Due to security requirements, interested individuals will need to submit to a
background check to enter any facility.

Partner Organizations

*Kairos Prison Ministry International
Members regularly contribute "Agape" in the form of prayer, home-baked cookies
and financial gifts. Volunteers conduct a ministry weekend every six months,
a follow-up one-day retreat three to four months later, and twice monthly
follow-up prayer and share follow-ups.

*Inside Out Prison Ministry
Bible study classes are offered in prison facilities through this organization.
